theres no way they could ever get people to double up at coupe. 4 races a day is too much

everyone is going to be recked after all the heats and then if they qualify they will be too tired to have a chance at wining anything!!
bad idea on behalf of the coaches!!

well if the four at coupe have to race 4 races each day, they dont want to be sending people only capable of doing one or two races and failing to perform in the other two.
i think it is a good test of stamina and fitness and a way of establishing the best 4

yeah it will be a good test of stamina but how are they going to compete with someone who has only raced a heat to qualify for the final? whereas you will have raced two heats and one final.

people who give out about the schools, the standard is way higher than ghent, 3rd in ghent 5-8th in british schools. Dileen the 2nd irish winner in about 20 years. ghent irish winners all over the place over the years. So if you think it is easy ask your club/coach instead of going to ghent next year where you have one time trial race in a day, go to schools qualifing first, then 2 2k races, semi and final in the day. Look foward to seeing this post next year

To be perfectly honest I don't think that anyone could possibly answer that question. I'm doubt Rowing Ireland even know what they're doing. The problem with Higgins and Looney was that they had no-one to trial with in a pair, and as such had no option but to row in a single. This year was a bit of a joke trialling-wise so I should hope that next year will be very different...
