yes, i do think muckross winning the senior 8's pot would be "springing a surprise"...considering queens have won bucs, put in a credible performance at duisberg, top ten place at london head and are unbeaten so far in ireland along with making the weekend at henley. as opposed to muckross' only result worth real note is beating nuig at dublin met. Having said that i do think with some of the people in that muckross crew they could pull it off
Mens Senior 8 Queens Senior 4 depends on whether Queens put togeather a top 4 Inter 8 UL Inter 4 UL Novice 8 UCD Novice 4 NUIG
Womens Senior 8 portora could take a big scalp if they race it Senior 4 if the muckross senior women race it this year inter 8 Trinity Inter 4...... Novice 8 Ucd Novice 4 queens

I'd prefer to see UCD win it but I think with having two competitive 8's in the temple Queens will be able to put together a very competitive 4.
Anyone know anything about the Cork 4 entered in Henley? Inter or Senior? In for a shout for a pot?

Men: Sen 8: Queens Sen 4-: anyone's for the taking Inter 8: Queens Inter 4+: Galway / UL Novice 8: UCD Novice 4+: UCD / NUIG
I reckon Sen 4's will be the race of the weekend- the Commercial and NUIG crews looking slick, will depend if UCD's Henley 4 can steer, if Queens can get a fast 4 together despite concentrating on the 8 and if Muckross and Galway enter as composite.
Women: Sen 8: Commercial Sen 4-: Commercial Inter 8: UCD / Trinity Inter 4+: UCD / Trinity Novice 8: Queens Novice 4+: Queens
Would be a great if Portora raced Sen8's but I still think Commercial would hold them off. Queens to clean up at novice level.

queens inter 8 which has been undefeated all year is technically senior in ireland, 2 lads from last yrs inter 8 are in it, so they cant row the inter 8 at champs but no doubt that crew will row senior 8s anyways, anyone know if there gonna go ahead with an inter 8? id say take out the 2 senior lads trow in that mitchell lad stroking it and some other person and theyd walk it?? otherwise u.l...

I'm not buying into the hype for the Queens inter 8. The only race they've raced all year at inter was the Uni Champs and if my memory serves correct UCD beat them by over a length.
On that note if UCD field an inter 8 it should be quite strong, Manning is still inter as far as I know, they have a decent inter 4, another lad back from England and they could easily pick two lads from their novice 8 to fill the other seats. I rekon they'll have a go at it.
Should be a great race in the 8. Carlow seem like they're moving fast aswell. Galway and UL have had good form all year, UCD are an unknown quantity but I would suspect still quite strong, Queens if they race it will put up a fight and Trinity aswell are not to be underestimated. But when it comes down to it I think we'll be watching a dog fight between UL and Galway in both the 4 and the 8 for the pots.
The great thing is that I suspect a lot of the inter crews will have a pop at the senior 8 aswell just for the experience at least so we could actually get maybe 3 or 4 heats or semi finals for the 8 instead of the recent form of 8/9 entries with only a few not rowing the final.

even if we get do get 7 or 8 boats to enter it will still be a straight final as inniscarra has 8 lanes.

I predict that there will only be 6 lanes in use at the championships.

Men: Sen 8: Muckross Sen 4-: UCD Inter 8: Queens Inter 4+: Queens
I rekon that muckross may pull off the senior 8. Just a guess really.
I rekon UCD have enough talent in their boat to be able to make the switch pretty easily to 4-
Queens should have enough intermediates to make a fast 8. I'd guess there are two guys in the first 8 that are still inter, who could replace the seniors in the second boat. If so, they will have no problem at all with inter 8s.
Also, dont forget that they won inter 4 at BUCS - again if they have seniors in that boat i think they will be easily replaced. Not so certain about this one but I'll take a gamble. Of course, they may not try and compete for this one.
I haven't a clue about novice or womens rowing at the moment, so cant really say!
Also....
Sen 4X : Queens!

Queens will have 2 senior 8's, as they have all year. Why would guys in the first 8 who are inter want to race inter, with all due respect, who cares about inter when there is a senior pot on offer? Perhaps they should have thought of that last year... Queens may put together some inter fours, but I suspect all resources will be focused on the big one. Will they even bother racing a senior four?
