bann seem amazingly slick and were only 9 seconds off a st.micks snr 8 which had some big guys in it...bann arent that big just slick which is more important. bish were 22 seconds behind and portora a further 2o behing again...pres are miles back even if they did row at a slow rate id say there pretty much panths this year but thet look young so mayve next year.
racing season will be very interesting form dictates bann look good for the pot but take a step back just last year and look at what happened portora? im not saying it will happen bann but theres always a chance of peaking very early. bish seem to have a brand new empacher which should give them a boost and bann were very high rating last year so its all up in the air really, i would tip bann at the moment and bish not to far behind and portora another bit behind again, but theres along way to go tribes head and the schools/skibb double header will tell alot

gonna have to say i agree with you 100%. rowed with the bann lads in the training day and have to say they wernt anything special outside there own boat but whatever they are doing they are doin it extremely well together. bish didnt stick around for it so gonna get another look at them tomorrow in galway. portora were in no way happy but were gonna have to see what happens there. pres do seem young but some big lads in the boat. perhaps the 4 they are racing in galway will tell us a little more also.

St. Josephs were quite impressive looking at the results. I didn't get to see the racing, but 4th overall and only 3 seconds off the Inter 8 that won and a further 5 off the second placed senior 8. They won the four aswell, beating an Intermediate 4 aswell. Impressive stuff from them. Obviously they have stepped up a gear and are looking good for competing with Bann. But again I have to say that I agree with the 'Portora Syndrome' call in that we will have to wait and see a few regattas before we can start making predictions about Bann. It's all well and good to be able to rate 35/36 down the course for 5/6k but f they can't find the extra gear to hit say 38 for 2k they might be in trouble. Hopefully Skib will tell a lot. Neptune won the junior 4x- but looking at the paper the notable absentee was Skib and I think it will take a big effort from any crew to take a pot off them.
