Wonderful results for the two Queens crews and it really does show their strength in depth.
Hopefully they can keep this form up and make a real go of it at Henley.
Surely the favourites now for both the senior and intermediate 8's championships

Excellent results so far for Queens, looking at today's racing they are picking up where they left off on Saturday, both Intermediate 4's won their heats, as did a lightweight pair and womens novice 8.
Taking absolutely nothing away from the win but to put the Intermediate result slightly more in perspective, it almost certainly contained senior oarsmen as the categories are done using BUCS rules - your top boat enters senior, second boat enters intermediate etc
Another point to note is that it was following good results at the british uni's last year that they really kicked on with their season. Assuming they do the same this season it'll be very interesting to see how they fare abroad later in the year

Well done Queens
Hi yesterday power10 wrote questioning that Queens may have a top heavy squad, when the top guys graduate suggesting there maybe nothing coming through. All I know is there could possibly be at least 3 of Portora first eight going there next year.
I also feel what you put in you will get out.

By way of comparison, how does Intermediate translate to a grade in the Irish context? Ditto MC8c?

the opinion of a top heavy queens crew is valid, their novices didn't fair well against their british counterparts, and they haven't been setting the irish scene alight either!
the influx of established rowers will not change this imbalance, but i suppose it will keep queens up at a high level.
mind you, very few of the top queens guys learned to row at school, the vast majority only took it up at uni level.
interesting to hear about the portora fellas joining, would be even more delighted to hear if the highly successful crew from bann are thinking of making belfast their home come october?

very good report on bucs regatta on the queens home page. impressive reults also in the 1st place inter 4x and second in the lw pair, both boats contained that mitchell lad form coelraine, serious step up for a young lad well done to him!
There sparing no expense, next stop off for queens is germany to see what german oppostion there is thatthey might encounter in henley.

A big round of applause for Queen's, they are hitting peaks when they need it, I must say I was far from impressed with them at castlewellan but they really showed they have the pace when it matters at bucs. They are doing a wild amount of travelling, off to Duisburg Regatta I presume by your German reference? To be followed by Marlow and then Henley etc, I am intrigued as to how students are affording this amount of travelling? considering Horr a month ago as well. Fair play to the lads and although f*gan Hall may not be everyones cup of tea(He appears to be getting alot of abuse on the british rowing message board) He certainly is getting the job done.

Great result from queens, that brookes 8 they beat won't even be rowing the temple as 4 of them are ineligible for it. They beat crews with some serious horsepower yesterday, I reckon they could do a Senior/Inter 8 double As regards Henley, we'll have to see what the americans send over and hopefully queens will get a better draw than they did last year. Anyone know if theres any decent american crews? draw wont matter as much this year i suspect as Queens have stepped on a considerable amount this year again. yes, so may have other crews and maybe the US will send different/better crews but a stronger heavier Queens are looking good. Experience at Henley is very important and the crew will this year have all been before..
