Foreign crews sometimes have to do the qualifying races too. There is probably a smaller proportion of foreign crews in qualifiers for HRR compared with domestic british entries. This is because crews coming from abroad will tend to be higher quality on average and not entering just for the same of it. Where there is a known form or quality, the crew will pre-qualify.
In most cases B crews have to do qualifiers irrexpective of ability. Expect Queens B to have to but they will easily get through and may progress through a few rounds

Yeah i agree, their 2nd senior 8 (still inter in britian) looks good also, theyd win inter 8s again this year if they were eligable still id day,
Queens1 have stiff opposition all though alot of crews theyll be racing will be ladies plate crews more so then temple, so theyll be punching above their weight id say should be interesting.
Be interesting to see how carlow do if theyll amount to anyting for champs, galway can really put themselves as inter sweep favourites with soom good performances here!!
Be interesting all in all id say...

I would say Galway are already favourites for the Inter Sweep pots. Carlow could come good though as they have a lot of experience in the crew. With both crews going to Henley also they will be very fast when they come back.

Martin Walsh is in the Oxford/Oxford Brookes composite. Expect that to be a Ladies Plate boat. Stephen Feeney also racing Elite eight in Leander/Cambridge composite. Will be interesting seeing Queens racing speed against them.

After seeing the performance by the UL Inter 8 at Dublin Metro - I wouldn't be so sure of Galway as favourites to win 8's or 4's.

Have to agree with strokeofclass here.
In terms of the 8 at least anyway I think Galway have only raced an inter 8 once, with the rest of their races being in the senior 8, with a few notable seniors in the boat who definitly add a lot to the speed. The UL 8 were very impressive and more than a lenth clear of the Neptune and Trinity 8's also in the final an beating the Micks senior 8. Maybe Carlow, UCD and Queens are holding their cards very close to their chest with regards the intermediate events but they make be making a mistake in doing so, in my opinion they need to know what they are up against and that UL have set a high standard given their performance at Metro.
But I do still think that Galway will be favourites for the inter 4, they have shown good speed consistently throughout the year in the boat but perhaps UL could give them a good race. One thing that Metro certainly did show was that the Senior and Inter sweep pots at the championships this year may not be as clear cut as they appeared.

Queens last in Elite eights in Marlow but I think the fist two boats are Ladies Plate. Look very fast off the start but poor last thousand going by the times. Two boat racing might suit them better though if they can establish a lead quickly and push off the other crew

Id insist you give them a break, in fairness they were less than half a second off fourth. Fair enough the splits were far from equal but certainly wasnt terrible.
